As an avid student of ethics in public relations, Jim has tracked a series of ethical breakdowns that he will argue are bad for the public relations industry and increasingly bad for the planet.

Jim will discuss how opportunistic and often dishonest PR firms create bogus decoys to disarm and sway public opinion on such life threatening isues as (for example) 
tobacco and global warming.

ABOUT JIM HOGGAN

James Hoggan is the president of the award-winning public relations firm James Hoggan & Associates.

In addition to offering communications advice to public institutions and to local, national and international corporate clients, Mr. Hoggan serves as chair of the David Suzuki Foundation (DSF);  a Trustee of the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education; and a board member of Future Generations  Canada and Future Generations International.

 

In addition to having led the largest ever research project on sustainability in Canada, Mr. Hoggan also chairs a sustainable development project in the Four Great Rivers region, an environmentally pristine, but endangered corner of Eastern Tibet; and he is the founder of www.DeSmogBlog.com, a weblog dedicated to exposing the public relations tactics that are being used to confuse the public about climate change.
