Do values statements just describe "nice ideals" for how we COULD act – or do they actually get implemented in our daily work?

Values statements often define how we'd LIKE people to behave in our organizations and with the people we serve. The challenge is bringing them to life – and applying them each day in whatever we do.

In June of 2007, Public Works and Government Services Canada rolled out a new Statement of Values. Created by employees for employees (with support from senior leaders), this nation-wide initiative generated much awareness and excitement. However, it's the activities that take place now that will sustain interest and enhance identification with these values.

Tony Pascuzzi will share his experience implementing the Statement of Values in the public service, and the importance of dialogue in the process. He'll also engage participants in a dialogue of our own – to talk about values in our work and organizations.
